When properties fall 3 years behind on tax payment, Wayne County forecloses on them and puts them up for auction in the fall, first for their back taxes, then for $500. In 2014 50,000 Detroit properties entered the tax foreclosure process (even more were eligible). The properties you see below are currently headed to the fall tax auction unless their owners get on a payment plan ASAP. If you know anyone affected, please let them know they are at risk of losing their property and point them to helpful resources.
